Il est install\u00e9 sur l\u2019un des quatre t\u00e9lescopes VLT (Very Large Telescope) de l\u2019ESO (European Southern Observatory) au Chili depuis 2002. Cet instrument permet d\u2019\u00e9tudier finement les spectres d\u2019une grande vari\u00e9t\u00e9 d\u2019objets c\u00e9lestes, allant des \u00e9toiles de la Voie Lact\u00e9e aux galaxies les plus lointaines.<\/p>\n<p>Le principe de l\u2019instrument consiste \u00e0 positionner sur le ciel, dans un champ de vue de 25 minutes d\u2019arc de diam\u00e8tre (\u00e0 peu pr\u00e8s la taille de la lune), une s\u00e9rie de fibres optiques dont chacune est destin\u00e9e \u00e0 collecter la lumi\u00e8re d\u2019une portion du ciel. La lumi\u00e8re est alors transport\u00e9e par ces fibres vers le ou les spectrographes o\u00f9 elle est diffract\u00e9e pour obtenir un spectre.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=\u00a0\u00bb1\/2&Prime;][vc_column_text el_class=\u00a0\u00bbpetit-titre petit-titre-txt\u00a0\u00bb]<\/p>\n<h3>L\u2019\u00e9tude des spectres par\u00a0la lumi\u00e8re pour cartographier les galaxies<\/h3>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element contenu\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Les raies pr\u00e9sentes dans le spectre d\u2019un objet galactique sont une mine d\u2019informations\u00a0! Leurs caract\u00e9ristiques nous renseignent sur les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s physiques de l\u2019objet observ\u00e9, comme sa vitesse, sa temp\u00e9rature ou son degr\u00e9 d\u2019ionisation. L\u2019\u00e9tude des spectres des objets c\u00e9lestes permet de cartographier les galaxies et d\u2019\u00e9tudier leurs mouvements et leurs \u00e9volutions. Autant d\u2019informations qui pourraient permettre d\u2019en savoir plus sur la naissance des galaxies. Comment les premi\u00e8res galaxies sont apparues ? Et pourquoi ?[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=\u00a0\u00bb1\/2&Prime;][vc_column_text el_class=\u00a0\u00bbpetit-titre petit-titre-txt\u00a0\u00bb]<\/p>\n<h3>Notre contribution sur les syst\u00e8mes fibr\u00e9s<\/h3>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element contenu\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]SEDI-ATI a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 et fourni de <strong class=\"d2b\">multiples configurations fibr\u00e9es<\/strong> assurant la <strong class=\"d2b\">liaison entre le foyer du t\u00e9lescope et le spectrographe multi-objets<\/strong> FLAMES (Fibre Large Array Multi Element Spectrograph) install\u00e9 sur l\u2019UT2 du VLT. FLAMES est compos\u00e9 des deux spectrographes GIRAFFE et UVES. Les <strong class=\"d2b\">liaisons fibres optiques<\/strong> fournies par SEDI-ATI permettent \u00e0 UVES d\u2019observer simultan\u00e9ment 8 objets au maximum avec une tr\u00e8s haute r\u00e9solution spectrale (R ~ 47000), et \u00e0 GIRAFFE d\u2019observer 15 galaxies \u00e0 la fois ou un peu plus de 130 objets de faibles dimensions mais avec une r\u00e9solution un peu moins \u00e9lev\u00e9e (typiquement entre R ~ 5000 et R ~ 30000).<\/p>\n<p>SEDI-ATI a travaill\u00e9 sur les syst\u00e8mes fibr\u00e9s MEDUSE, IFU et ARGUS qui alimentent le spectrographe GIRAFFE.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>MEDUSE : 132 fibres de 200 \u00b5m de c\u0153ur \u00e9quip\u00e9es de boutons magn\u00e9tiques afin d\u2019\u00eatre positionn\u00e9es sur la plaque focale et permettre \u00e0 chacune d\u2019entre elles de fournir le spectre d\u2019une \u00e9toile. Ainsi, 132 objets c\u00e9lestes peuvent \u00eatre observ\u00e9s \u00e0 la fois,<\/li>\n<li>IFU : Les IFU sont au nombre de 15. Ce sont des syst\u00e8mes d\u00e9ployables comportant chacun 20 fibres optiques de 140 \u00b5m, positionn\u00e9es sur une matrice carr\u00e9e. Chaque IFU est semblable \u00e0 l\u2019\u0153il d\u2019un insecte avec sa trame de microlentilles, permettant d\u2019intercepter une portion du ciel,<\/li>\n<li>ARGUS : analogue \u00e0 IFU \u00e0 la diff\u00e9rence qu\u2019il se compose d\u2019un seul IFU de 308 fibres de 140 \u00b5m concentr\u00e9es au centre du champ sur une matrice rectangulaire de 22 x 14 microlentilles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=\u00a0\u00bb1\/2&Prime;][vc_single_image image=\u00a0\u00bb11113&Prime; img_size=\u00a0\u00bbfull\u00a0\u00bb alignment=\u00a0\u00bbcenter\u00a0\u00bb][vc_column_text]<em>GIRAFFE en cours de montage sur le site du VLT au Chili.
