Blood analysis

Blood analysis.

The challenge

Medical instrumentation requiring high reliability with a large number of channels. Any error of mapping is not allowed!

Major constraints

  • optical fibers must be coherently mapped with high accuracy and uniformity.
  • the solution must be compatible with broad spectral range spectrometers.

SEDI-ATI solution

  • Implementation of customized fiber assembly solutions and manufacturing processes.
  • A broad range of optical fibers from solarization resistant to very broadband fibers.

Advantages of the SEDI-ATI solution

SEDI-ATI adapts to customer’s requests and offers customer-specific designs.

Blood analysis

SEDI-ATI designs customer-specific fiber-assembly solutions for blood analysis applications using fluorescence spectroscopy.

Blood tests can help detect potential health disorders and diagnose diseases.

Fiber optics are ideal to perform fluorescence spectroscopy analysis. They allow to illuminate a sample of blood at a defined wavelength, and to collect the fluorescence emitted as a reaction to the excitation caused by the incoming light. The emitted fluorescence is relevant of the composition of the target, which allows to identify the nature of the target.

SEDI-ATI has been involved in this field for decades. We provide customer-specific bundle designs such as coherently mapped optical fiber assemblies consisting in multi-branched optical fibers that are arranged in a linear configuration at one end of the bundle which fans out into multiple legs with a single fiber in each. There is one leg per sample to test, and the array of fibers is aligned with the entrance slit of the spectrometer. Fiber bundles with core diameters from 50 µm to 1000 µm, and lengths to 20 m.
