Design of optical fiber cables for cryogenics
You are looking for a fiber optic link working at extremely cold temperatures? SEDI-ATI can provide specific cryogeny fiber optic cables.

Keyfeatures
- Cryostat compatibility: down to 1.5 K (-271,6 °C),
- Fiber type: singlemode, multimode or polarization-maintaining,
- Structure: single fiber or bundle,
- Ceramic or stainless steel ferrule,
- Connectors: FC/APC, FC/PC or SMA.
SEDI-ATI Fibres Optiques offers both singlemode* and multimode cryogenic fiber optic hermetic patchcords down to 10-9 mbar, operating in cryogenic environments down to few Kelvin.
The assembly is done following a cryogenic compatible process. The materials used to build such patchcords are all both low-outgassing and cryoresistant:
- polyimide or acrylate coatings,
- peek or stainless-steel jackets or specific polymer (external diameter can be as small as 1 mm),
- stainless-steel connectors: ST, or FC for vacuum, or MTP (12 channels).
These cryogenic fiber-optic patchcords can be mated in stainless-steel ST, FC or SMA bulkhead adapters.
SEDI-ATI also offers a complete selection of bulkhead and inline vacuum compatible fiber-optic feedthroughs.
We also have a range of feedthroughs compatible with cryogenic applications, particularly for quantum applications: the KTRAV-M8V, KTRAV-M12V, and KTRAV-MTP barrel feedthroughs.
*Polarization maintaining fibers are available upon request. Please note that standard PM fibers are available with an acrylate coating and thus meet lower specifications: vacuum level down to 10-6 mbar. Do not hesitate to consult us.
